Easter in the Darkroom
Day 1
Left home mid morning, and arrived around noon. My uncle was nowhere to be seen, so I went around the back, to find he was in the darkroom. He showed me his enlarger, a De Vere 504 with a multigrade head. We made some film developer stock of Ilford ID-11. My uncle introduced me to medium format, giving me a seagull. After we got to grips with it, we headed off into Burton-upon-Trent, using up an 120 roll of Ilford Pan F 50. After returning, we developed the films (including Film #4). However, we didn’t know where to start to expose the film, so the first 4 images were overlapped.
Day 2
Spent most of the day in the darkroom. My uncle showed me various techniques, including split-grade printing and dodge/burning. Managed to lock myself from the darkroom, so we had to drive to the pub to attain the spare key.
Day 3
Woke up early and prepared for our day trip in Llandudno. On the journey we saw some beautiful oil refineries amongst a web of pylons. Unfortunately there was nowhere to stop and take photos. After parking at Llandudno, we walked along the promenade, before exploring the pier and below. We returned to the car and drove to a traditional Welsh cemetery. We returned to the darkroom and made some developer for the next day.

Day 4
We developed the film I finished yesterday, did some more printing, packed my bags and learned how to use the print dryer. I then went home.
More photos will be posted when they’re scanned in next week. Flickr Set.
